Who you are dealing with
These terms are between you and Northwell, trading at northwell.us.com, from 71 Mill Street, Unit B, Austin, Texas 43086, United States. Northwell here means the patient and family services desk: the patient guides, the class instructors and the careers team who work from that address.
They cover two things. Using this website, and booking a place in one of our patient education classes in Austin or a visit planning call. Read them before you ask us to hold a seat. They are short on purpose.
What we provide, and what we are not
Northwell's guides and classes are not medical care and do not replace your doctor. If something is urgent, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not use the inquiry form, the chat or a voicemail for anything urgent.
We provide instruction and practical guidance. A patient guide helps you work out which location to use, what paperwork to bring, where to park and what happens at the desk when you arrive. A class gives you a seat in a group of no more than 12, an instructor, a room on Mill Street and a written sheet to take home. The hospital stay preparation class, the new parents class, the family caregiver skills course, the CPR and first aid course, and the steady movement class for people over 60 are all instruction of this kind.
We do not diagnose. We do not give an opinion on a symptom, change or interpret medication, or book an emergency. A guide who hears a question like that passes it to your own clinician or to 911 the same minute and does not answer it. The CPR and first aid course ends with a Northwell completion letter, which is not a third-party certification.
The steady movement class needs a signed clearance from your physician before the first session, and we cannot seat you without it. The hospital stay preparation class is only for people whose admission date is already set.
Nothing is sold on this website
There is no cart, no checkout and no card field anywhere on northwell.us.com. The forms send us a request. That is all they do.
A fee printed on the programs page or elsewhere on the site is an estimate to help you decide whether to ask. It is not a binding quote and it is not an offer you can accept by clicking. An inquiry becomes a booking in three steps:
- You send the form, write in the chat or call +1 (779) 555-3858.
- A named guide calls or writes back, checks the class suits you and that anything required first (a physician's clearance, a set admission date) is in place, and tells you the confirmed fee.
- We send a confirmation letter with the date, the start time, the room, the fee and how to pay. The booking exists from the moment that letter is sent, and not before.
How fees are set
All fees are in US dollars. The visit planning call costs nothing. Class fees are set per household, per couple, per person or per session depending on the class, and the basis is stated next to each one. At the time of this version, the indicative figures are: $25 per household for hospital stay preparation, $140 per couple for the four new parents evenings, $120 per person for the three caregiver skills mornings, $85 per person for CPR and first aid, and $15 per steady movement class or $110 for a block of 8.
A fee can change before we confirm it, for example when the room rate or the cost of training equipment changes. Once your confirmation letter is sent, the fee in it is the fee you pay, even if the website figure moves afterwards.
Booking and arriving
Seats are allocated in the order confirmation letters go out. A request held in the inquiry queue does not reserve a seat. The door at Mill Street opens fifteen minutes before the start time. If you arrive more than twenty minutes late to a hands-on session such as CPR, the instructor may ask you to move to the next date, because the practice rotations are already running and the manikins are counted per pair.
Bring what the letter lists. For the steady movement class that includes the signed clearance, on the first day, on paper.
Cancelling a booking
You can cancel by phone or by email to [email protected]. Cancel 48 hours or more before the start and we refund the fee in full or move you to another date, whichever you prefer. Cancel inside 48 hours and we move you to the next date with a free seat; we do not refund that fee, because by then the seat has usually been offered to someone else.
For a multi-session course (new parents, caregiver skills, a block of 8 movement classes) a session you miss is not refunded, but we will offer you the same session in the next run if a seat is free.
The seat and refund guarantee
Two promises, written down so you can hold us to them.
- Your seat is yours. Once your confirmation letter is sent, we do not overbook the room and we do not give your seat away. Every class stays at or under 12 seats.
- If we cancel, you get all of it back. If Northwell cancels or moves a class for any reason, including instructor illness or a problem with the room, you choose between a full refund of what you paid and a seat on another date. A refund goes back by the method you paid within 10 working days.
The guarantee is about the seat and the fee. It is not a promise about any change in your health, and nothing in a class should be read as one.
Using this website
You may read, print and share pages for your own use. You may not:
- send inquiries or chat messages in someone else's name, or with details you are not entitled to give;
- use the forms or chat for advertising, bulk messages or anything abusive toward the desk staff;
- try to get into parts of the site that are not linked from the public pages, probe the server, or run automated scrapers against it;
- copy the class material or timetables to present as your own program.
Who owns the words and pictures
The text, photographs, the Northwell name, logo and mark, and the take-home sheets handed out in class belong to Northwell or are used with permission. Quote a sentence with a link back and we will not mind. Reusing a photograph, the logo or a whole page needs written permission from us first.
What the site does not warrant
The website is provided as it is. We check timetables, fees and directions and correct them when we find a mistake, but we do not warrant that every page is current at every hour or that the site is available without interruption. Your confirmation letter, not the web page, is the record of your booking.
General information in a class or on this site is not advice about your own health. Questions about that go to your own clinician.
The limit of our liability
So far as Texas law allows, Northwell's total liability to you in connection with a booking is limited to the fee you paid for that booking. For use of the website without a booking, it is limited to $100. We are not liable for indirect loss such as lost earnings or travel costs arising from a class being moved, beyond the refund in the guarantee above.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
When we can refuse or end access
We may decline a booking, or ask someone to leave a class, if a requirement in these terms is not met (for example, no signed physician clearance for the movement class), or if a person behaves in a way that puts the group or the instructor at risk. If we end a booking for that reason before the class starts, we refund the fee. We may also block access to the forms or chat from anyone breaching the website rules above.
Governing law
These terms run under the law of Texas, United States. A dispute that we cannot settle by talking it through is heard in the courts of Austin. Call the desk first; most disagreements about a booking are fixed with a date change.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms we publish the new version on this page with a new version number and effective date in the masthead above. A change never reaches back to a booking already confirmed: that booking runs under the version in force on the day your confirmation letter was sent. If a change affects a booking you hold for a future date, we tell you by email before it applies.
